1. For a more comfortable treatment avoid caffeine for a few hours before your appointment.

  2. If your electrologist can’t see the hairs, they can’t zap the hairs. Plucking, waxing, threading, or tweezing before your hair removal appointment reduces the number of hairs your electrologist can remove.

  3. Rest assured that electrology is the only hair removal method recognized as permanent by the FDA.

  4. Ask your electrologist for aftercare advice.

  5. Talk to your electrologist about any questions or concerns. We want your experience to be as comfortable and effective as possible.

  6. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drinking plenty of water helps unwanted hair slide out more easily.

  7. Clean skin releases unwanted hair more easily. Remove your makeup before your appointment, so the hair follicles are clean and accessible.

  8. It’s okay to shave between treatments, but never, ever tweeze!

  9. The hair you see is not all the hair you have. Hair grows in cycles. That’s why it takes more than one appointment to permanently clear an area

Electrolysis Tips and Advice

Electrolysis FAQ

.HOW DOES ELECTROLYSIS WORK?

A thin, sterile probe (or needle) transmits a small electric current directly into the opening of the hair follicle opening. This destroys all of the components that cause hair to grow and regenerate.

IS ELECTROLYSIS PAINFUL?

Electrolysis can cause some discomfort. Some clients liken it to a small pricking or pinching sensation. The level of discomfort totally depends on your pain tolerance.

Why does it take many sessions to obtain permanent results?

Since hair grows in three different cycles, electrolysis can only successfully treat hairs that are actually in the growing phase. Some hairs have passed that phase and are just dead hairs that are no longer attached to the blood supply. Therefore it may take several months to a year to completely clear an area. The underlying cause of the excessive hair growth plays a huge part as well. The number of total treatments will vary from area to area and person to person.

Is electrolysis safe for women of color?

Dark skin is a challenge for some hair removal methods, but not for electrolysis. If you've heard that your skin tone means that you are not a candidate for hair removal treatments, then you need to speak to an electrologist. Electrolysis is effective on all skin colors and types of hair.
